Gradall Forklift Parts - The Gradall excavator was the brainchild of two brothers Koop and ray Ferwerda. The excavator was established In the 1940's all through WWII, when there was a shortage of labourers. The brothers faced the problems of a depleted workforce because of the war. As partners in their Cleveland, McKinney construction company referred to as Ferwerda-Werba-Ferwerda they lacked the existing workers so as to perform the delicate job of finishing and grading on their interstate projects. The Ferwerda brothers decided to make an equipment that would save their business by making the slope grading work easier, more efficient and less manual.

Their very first design prototype was a machine with two beams set on a rotating platform which was attached atop a second-hand truck. A telescopic cylinder moved the beams forward and backward which enabled the fixed blade at the end of the beams to push or pull dirt. Shortly improving the very first design, the brothers made a triangular boom to add more strength. In addition, they added a tilt cylinder which let the boom rotate 45 degrees in either direction. A cylinder was placed at the back of the boom, powering a long push rod to enable the machinery to be outfitted with either a bucket or a blade attachment.

Gradall introduced in 1992, with the introduction of the new XL Series hydraulics, the most innovative adjustment in their machines ever since their invention. This new system of top-of-the-line hydraulics enabled the Gradall excavator to deliver comparable power and high productivity to the more traditional excavators. The XL Series ended the original Gradall equipment power drawn from low pressure hydraulics and gear pumps. These conventional systems effectively handled grading and finishing work but had a difficult time competing for high productivity work.

Gradall's new XL Series excavators showed more ability to dig and lift materials. With this series, the models were produced along with a piston pump, high-pressure system of hydraulics that showed distinct improvement in boom and bucket breakout forces. The XL Series hydraulics system was even developed with a load-sensing capability. Traditional excavators utilize an operator to be able to pick a working-mode; where the Gradall system could automatically adjust the hydraulic power intended for the job at hand. This makes the operator's whole work easier and even conserves fuel simultaneously.

Once the new XL Series hydraulics reached the market, Gradall was thrust into the very competitive industrial machine market which are designed to tackle demolition, pavement removal, excavating and various industrial work. The introduction of the new telescoping boom helped to further enhance the excavator's marketability. The telescoping boom gives the excavator the ability to better position attachments and to work in low overhead areas.
